Health and Safety Policy — Lawn Mowing Wembley
As a provider of
lawn mowing services in Wembley, Lawn Mowing Wembley is committed to protecting the health, safety and welfare of our employees, clients, visitors and the public. This policy sets out our approach to safe working across all
garden maintenance and grass cutting operations. We will take a proactive approach to hazard identification, risk control and continuous improvement. The aim is to ensure that every job — from residential grass cutting to commercial grounds maintenance — is planned and executed to minimise risk and meet industry best practice.
Scope and Objectives
This policy applies to all staff, sub-contractors and temporary workers engaged in Wembley lawn care, grass cutting and general gardening activities. Objectives include: preventing workplace incidents, reducing injury and occupational ill health, ensuring safe use of equipment and materials, and maintaining clear communication of responsibilities. We will
regularly review and revise procedures to reflect operational changes and new risks.

Roles and Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are defined to ensure accountability and clear lines of control:
- Management: develop and maintain policy, ensure resources for training and PPE, and conduct management reviews.
- Supervisors: carry out site risk assessments, brief teams, and oversee safe work practices.
- Operatives: follow instructions, use PPE, report hazards and incidents immediately.
Each role is expected to cooperate to maintain a safe working environment and to contribute to safety improvement.
Risk Assessment and Job Planning
All tasks will be preceded by a suitable and sufficient risk assessment. The assessment will identify potential hazards such as flying debris, slopes and uneven ground, traffic exposure, buried services, hand tool misuse and exposure to hazardous substances. Control measures will be implemented using a hierarchy: eliminate, substitute, engineer, administrate and provide PPE. Site-specific job planning will include emergency access and communications, client site expectations and temporary exclusion zones where required.
Clear signage will be used when operating near public areas.

Training, Competence and Personal Protective Equipment
All operatives will receive induction training and ongoing competency checks before being approved to operate machinery or carry out chemical applications. Training includes safe operation of mowers, strimmers, blowers and hand tools, as well as manual handling techniques and lone working protocols. The company will provide and maintain appropriate PPE, including eye and ear protection, gloves, hi‑vis clothing and safety boots. Use of PPE is mandatory and will be enforced; any faults or defects must be reported immediately.
Equipment, Maintenance and Fuel Safety
Equipment will be maintained according to manufacturer schedules and kept in a serviceable condition. Fueling procedures will be controlled — refuelling only in well-ventilated areas with engines isolated — to reduce fire and spill risks. Guards and safety devices must never be bypassed. Portable power equipment will be inspected pre-shift and taken out of service if faults are identified. Records of maintenance, inspections and repairs will be retained as part of our safety management system.
Accident Reporting and Emergency Procedures
All accidents, incidents and near-misses will be reported and recorded promptly. Investigations will determine root causes and corrective actions to prevent recurrence. First aid provision is available at appropriate locations; trained first-aiders will be allocated for larger sites. Emergency procedures, including evacuation, fire response and severe weather protocols, are documented and rehearsed. Communication plans ensure that emergency services, client contacts and senior staff can be notified quickly.

Working Near People, Property and Pets
When carrying out work in public or client-occupied spaces the safety of others is paramount. Work areas will be cordoned or signposted where necessary, and staff will be briefed on managing passers-by, children and pets. We expect clients to highlight vulnerable individuals, buried services and protected plants prior to work. Insurance and risk transfer arrangements are maintained, and staff will act to protect client property while performing lawn maintenance and grass cutting tasks.

Monitoring, Compliance and Continuous Improvement
We will monitor compliance with this policy through site inspections, audits and performance reviews. Records of training, risk assessments, maintenance and incident reports will be maintained to demonstrate ongoing compliance and to inform improvements. Management will carry out periodic policy reviews and update procedures to reflect operational feedback and legislative changes.
Our commitment is to continuous improvement in safety performance across all Wembley gardening and lawn maintenance activities. The policy will be communicated to all staff and made available to relevant stakeholders on request.
